JL Bourg en Bresse added depth to its backcourt by inking playmaker Axel Julien to a one-year deal, the club announced Monday.

Julien (1.84 meters, 28 years old) arrives from JDA Dijon Bourgogne, where he averaged 11.8 points, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 35 French League games last season. He helped Dijon reach the French League and the French Cup championship games, losing against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. Julien started his career with Hyeres-Toulon Var Basket and joined Dijon in 2015. He helped Dijon win the French Leaders Cup and reach the Basketball Champions League final four in 2020. Julien has also been a member of the French national team. He helped France win a silver medal at the 2012 U20 European Championships.
