ALBA Berlin and big man Johannes Thiemann will remain together for another three seasons.
ALBA, Thiemann agree to three-year extension
The club announced the new contract on Monday afternoon. Thiemann (2.05 meters, 27 years old) first joined ALBA from fellow German side Ludwigsburg in the summer of 2018 and became a key player.
He averaged 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds over 19 minutes in 3 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances last season. Thiemann also helped ALBA win back-to-back German League crowns and the 2020 German Cup.
He made his professional debut with TSV Breitenguessbach and also played for Brose Bamberg before signing with Ludwigsburg. He is also a member of the German national team.
We are very pleased that Johannes Thiemann has extended his contract for a further three years. Since he came to us in 2018, he has become more and more important to the core of the team. He has grown into this role and has enriched our team a lot. JT is a great player, a great person. We look forward to accompanying him on his way to becoming a modern EuroLeague player. It's great that his and our development are staying connected.
I am very happy that I was able to extend my contract in Berlin. It's just unbelievable what kind of culture there is at ALBA, and I'm very happy that I can be part of it in the long term. I would like to thank the association for their trust and look forward to the next three years.
