AS Monaco reached an agreement with do-it-all guard Marcos Knight to keep working together next season, the club announced Friday.
Monaco re-signs guard Knight
Knight (1.88 meters, 31 years old) was one of Monaco's main pillars last season, helping his team win the 7DAYS EuroCup title. He averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 23 EuroCup games. He led AS Monaco with 3.8 defensive rebounds per game, set a EuroCup Finals record with 10 defensive boards in Game 2 of his team's sweep of UNICS Kazan and helped his team triumph in both finals games with decisive rebounds. His 12 rebounds in that game also matched the EuroCup Finals record held by Alen Omic of Unicaja Malaga (2017) and Lazaros Papadopoulos and Antonis Fotsis of Dynamo Moscow (2006).
Knight started his professional basketball career with Bike-Cafe Messingschlager Baunach of the German third division. He also played for MLP Academics Heidelberg, Science City Jena and MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg of Germany, Ayfon Belediyespor of Turkey and Baloncesto Zaragoza of Spain. He helped Ayfon promote to the Turkish first division in 2018 and previously did the same with Jena, winning the German second division in 2016. Knight also helped Ludwigsburg reach the German League finals in 2020. He is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with Monaco in the 2021-22 campaign.
