AS Monaco brings back Ouattara

Ouattara (1.92 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Betis of Spain, where last season he averaged 9.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 30 Spanish League games. Ouattara had already played four seasons in Monaco prior, including 7DAYS EuroCup appearances in 2018-19 and 2019-20, but also in 2013-14 with his former team, Chalon. Ouattara is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut this season.

On Tuesday morning, 7DAYS EuroCup champ AS Monaco announced the comeback of guard Yakuba Ouattara for next season.

Panathinaikos OPAP Athens announced on Tuesday the addition of young Nikos Chougkaz for the next four years, even if he will be sent on loan right away to see more playing time in Ionikos Nikaias, the team where he also played last season. Hougaz (2.08 meters, 20 years old) is a forward that started as a player in Peristeri but made his pro debut with Panionios in 2018-19, averaging 3.4 points and 1.1 rebounds. In the summer of 2019 he went to the United States, playing college ball with Northwestern State. He finished the year averaging 9.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

After that, Hougaz joined Ionikos last season and he averaged 10.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in the Greek League with solid shooting averages and that earned him the Best New Player award in the competition. Hougaz has also been a member of the U19 Greek national team.

Panathinaikos inks Chougkaz long-term

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne continued filling out its roster with the addition of combo guard Chris Jones for next season, the club announced on Tuesday. Jones (1.88 meters, 28 years old) debuted last season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, coming off the bench to put up 7.0 points, 2.8 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 17:30 minutes averaged over 34 games. He won the Israeli League crown with Maccabi at season's end after putting up 11.8 points per game in domestic play, which has been the norm in his career. Jones turned pro with Starwings Basel of the Swiss League, spent two seasons with Mons-Hainaut of France, and then played one for Bursaspor in Turkey before his year in Tel Aviv. Until last season, he never averaged fewer than 14.0 points in his domestic leagues. Prior to turning pro, Jones played university ball at North Texas and Angelo State.



"We are very happy that Chris made the choice to join us," ASVEL head coach T.J. Parker said. "We have been following him since last year. He is a leader and a floor general, with high-quality passing and a very strong pick-and-roll game. His average points during his season at Bursaspor (15.4) prove that he can score, too, when needed, and that makes him very complete in attack. On defense, he can defend both guard spots."

ASVEL puts Jones in backcourt

Zenit St Petersburg strengthened its backcourt by signing playmaker Shabazz Napier to a one-year deal, the club announced Monday. Napier (1.85 meters, 30 years old) last played for Washington of the NBA, averaging 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 20 games in the 2019-20 season. He started that campaign with another NBA team, Minnesota, averaging 9.6 points and 5.2 assists in 36 games before joining Washington. Napier has also played for Miami, Orlando, Portland and Brooklyn of the NBA, as well as for Sioux Falls of the G League. Before that, he helped the University of Connecticut win two NCAA Tournament championships in 2011 and 2014. He was chosen as the NCAA All-Tournament MVP in 2014. Napier has also been a member of the Puerto Rican national team.

Zenit brings in point guard Napier

Panathinaikos bolstered its froncourt by signing center Jehyve Floyd to a one-year deal with an option for another season, the club announced Monday. Floyd (2.03 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Hapoel Galil Gilboa, where he averaged 11.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 36 Israeli League games last season, leading that competition in two-point shooting percentage (74.2%). He started the 2020-21 campaign with Promitheas Patras but left shortly, playing just one 7DAYS EuroCup game. Floys was the 2019-20 Greek League's top shot blocker (2.2 bpg.), playing for Larissa. He averaged 5.1 points and 5.0 rebounds in 20 Greek League games in the 2019-20 season. He started his career with MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg but joined Larissa in time to start the Greek League regular season. Before that, Floyd finished his college career at College of the Holy Cross, for which he averaged 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.4 blocks in 33 NCAA games in the 2018-19 campaign. He is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with Panathinaikos.

Panathinaikos adds defensive ace Floyd

FC Bayern Munich and Leon Radosevic reached an agreement to keep working together for at least one more year, the club announced Monday. Radosevic (2.08 meters, 31 years old) signed a one-year contract with an option for another season. He averaged 3.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 37 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season, in which he helped Bayern reach the playoffs for the first time and lift the German Cup trophy.

Radosevic started his career with Cibona Zagreb of Croatia, and also played for AX Armani Exchange Milan of Italy, Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania, Brose Bamberg and ALBA Berlin of Germany and Besiktas Istanbul of Turkey. In 231 EuroLeague career games with Cibona, Milan, Rytas, ALBA, Bamberg and Bayern, Radosevic has amassed 1,347 points and 647 rebounds. He helped Cibona win the Croatian League title in 2010 and is a three-time German League champion - with Bamberg in 2016 and 2017, and with Bayern in 2019. He also won two more German Cup crowns - with ALBA in 2014 and Bamberg in 2017. He also helped Croatia win respective bronze medals at the 2008 U18 European Championships and the 2009 U19 World Cup.

Three-time EuroLeague champion Stratos Perperoglou has retired at the age of 36, ending a professional career that spanned 17 seasons. The Greek forward first appeared in the competition in 2007-08 with Panathinaikos Athens, where he stayed for another four seasons and won the title in both 2009 and 2011. He then switched to Olympiacos Piraeus, becoming continental champion for the third time in 2013. Perperoglou later played for Anadolu Efes Istanbul, FC Barcelona and Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade, totalling 222 appearances in the EuroLeague. He also played in the 7DAYS EuroCup with Panionios Forthnet, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Zvezda, and represented the Greek national team in World and European championships.

Perperoglou announced the decision on Instagram, saying: "Ball carried me around the world, put me under some of the most talented, successful coaches/trainers of my time. Put me on teams with players I respect, and provided golden moments etched into my mind forever. Three Euroleague championships, mountains too high, and character building lows. I have nothing but humble gratitude for the ride with which professional basketball has taken me."

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne added size and athleticism to its frontcourt by signing Kostas Antetokounmpo to a two-year deal, the club announced on Friday. Antetokounmpo (2.08 meters, 23 years old) arrives from LA Lakers of the NBA, where he played limited minutes in 15 appearances this past season. A younger brother of the NBA superstar Giannis, he also started playing basketball with youth teams of Filathlitikos in his hometown of Athens. After spending two years in college at Dayton University, Kostas Antetokounmpo started his pro career in the 2018-19 season splitting time between Texas in the G-League and Dallas in the NBA. He joined the Lakers the following season, and was a part of the team that won the NBA championships in 2020, while also playing with South Bay of the G-League. Antetokounmpo is also a member of the Greek national team, and is now set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut.

ASVEL inks big man Antetokounmpo

FC Bayern Munich signed experienced swingman Darrun Hilliard to a one-year deal with an option for another season, the club announced Friday. Hilliard (1.98 meters, 28 years old) arrives from CSKA Moscow, where he spent the last two years. Last season, he posted 8.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in helping CSKA reach the Final Four. He also helped CSKA win the VTB League title last season. It was the third EuroLeague campaign for Hilliard, who made his EuroLeague debut with Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz during the 2018-19 season. In a total of 98 appearances in the competition, Hilliard has averaged 9.5 points and 2.4 rebounds.

Hilliard started his professional career in the NBA, where he played parts of three seasons for San Antonio and Detroit. He also won the 2018 D-League title with Austin while averaging 21.2 points per game. Hilliard also played for the United States national team that took the gold medal at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup and was named to the All-tournament team.
