UNICS Kazan and big man John Brown have signed a contract extension that will keep him with the club through the end of the 2023-24 season, the club announced Monday. Brown (2.03 meters, 29 years old) averaged 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 24 games in the 7DAYS EuroCup last season. He helped UNICS reach the EuroCup and the VTB United League finals. Brown finished the EuroCup season with 45 steals (1.9 spg.), the third-most by any player in competition history, and was chosen as the VTB League's best defender.

Brown joined UNICS from Happy Casa Brindisi, where he averaged 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 21 Italian League games in the 2019-20 season. He also played for Acea Virtus Roma and DeLonghi Treviso Basket. Brown helped Brindisi reach the Italian Cup final 2019 and 2020. He is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with UNICS this season.
