Juan Nunez was named Most Valuable Player of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Munich after guiding U18 Real Madrid to first place in the event and giving Real its seventh straight appearance in the ANGT Finals. Nunez was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Real teammate Eli John Ndiaye, Abramo Canka of U18 Stellazzurra Rome, Sasha Grant of host U18 FC Bayern Munich and Lefteris Mantzoukas of U18 Promitheas Patras.
Nunez collected 6 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in Real’s 104-88 victory over Stellazzurra in the ANGT Munich first-place game. For the tournament, Nunez, who was born in 2004 and is two years younger than the rest of the competition, averaged 9.5 points on 80.0 percent two-point shooting, 2.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals for a performance index ranking of 15.0. Nunez led the competition in two-point percentage, was tied for third in assists and ranked fourth in steals.
Ndiaye, who is also a 2004 player, tallied 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in the first-place game and finished with 16.5 points on 67.5% on two-point shooting, 7.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.8 blocks for a PIR of 22.3. The Senegalese center ranked eighth in points, second in rebounds, third in two-point shooting and second in PIR. Canka had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss to Real in the first-place game. For the tournament, he was worth 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals. He was seventh in scoring, eighth in assists and fifth in PIR.
Grant finished the tournament with 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and a PIR of 21.8. He was 10th in scoring, seventh in assists, third in free throw percentage at 86.2% and fourth in PIR. Mantzoukas had a record-breaking tournament as he set the new ANGT single-game scoring record with 49 points. In that game, he had a PIR of 65 for the third-best showing in tournament history and he broke the marks for the most free-throws made (20) and attempted (23) in a game. For the tournament, Mantzoukas averaged 32.0 points on 65.1% shooting on two-pointers and 88.2% on free throws, 12.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals for a PIR of 38.3. He led the tournament in scoring, rebounds and PIR and ranked second in free-throw shooting and fourth in two-point shooting.
